As the veterinary consultant for Paw Pals Assistance Dogs, Dr. Bonnie Kramer will try to teach us how to keep our dogs healthier, whether they’re working dogs, puppies in-training or our best friends at home.  Bonnie will be writing monthly articles for the web site and your topic suggestions are greatly appreciated.  She will also review publications and research as it relates to the health of our dogs and make suggestions on how best to utilize the information to benefit our working teams and puppies.

But more important than being the veterinary consultant, Bonnie is a puppy raiser.  She is now on puppy number 7.  Each puppy is very different with a variety of new problems to cope with each time.  But if it wasn’t fun, she wouldn’t be on number seven.  She does it because “It makes a big difference”.  In 2005, Bonnie received a “7 EVERYDAY HERO” Award from the ABC television affiliate in Denver for her volunteer work with assistance dogs.

Bonnie is a Colorado native.  She received both her DVM and BS degrees from Colorado State University.  She NEVER plans on leaving Colorado, except on very frequent vacations.  Prior to attending veterinary school, she volunteered at the Denver Zoo for 2 years, with lions & tigers & bears…OH BOY…but decided dogs and cats were somewhat safer!  In her spare time (????), she loves to fly fish and hike in the Rocky Mountains.
